Today was a public holiday in Norway, to celebrate a very important person’s birthday and Lillomarka OL had put on a middle distance race at Bygdøy to keep us amused. I was off first with not quite enough time to get back to take over Emma from Dave. Unfortunately, that preyed on my mind throughout the run and I made a few pretty big mistakes.
This was the first time for a while when looking at the split times made me feel happy. Usually I’m just slow and steady but today I had mostly reasonable splits, some very good splits and one or two really awful splits. Unfortunately, the really good didn’t make up for the really bad and I ended up towards the bottom of the results table (but not at the bottom!).
After watching Emma crawl around the ground and up some steps several times, we headed for the museums thinking that there would be a nice cafe there to have lunch in. We were sadly mistaken and should have opted for the pølser, waffles and cake at the event. We then had a fun trip home on the bus and the t-bane and a lazy afternoon making meatballs!
