We were at the BADO event at Black Wood today and it rained. It was one of our first experiences of split starts and, despite the rain, it didn’t seem too bad. I went out very early and ran like a bit of a headless chicken around the woods on my own. I don’t seem to be able to concentrate very well these days. Then, after a quick feed, I took Emma out in the carrier for a while. There weren’t many people to watch so she fell asleep after a while, leaving me to pick my way through the mud and slippy branches without falling over.
I was pleased to see that I’d just beaten Abi Weeds when I looked at the results. Given she’s about 6 months pregnant, I felt I ought to. It looks good for her making a speedy return to fitness after her baby’s born in January though. That’s a good thing as we need lots of competition down south to make it fun.
The course was good fun but I had one niggle with the planning, which left me running for about half a kilometre along the track that the cars were driving in along to get to the parking. It probably wasn’t the absolute best route choice but it was a fairly sensible one. Other than that, my only problems were with my own brain.
