Wet Wet Wet

We were helping at the SOC district event and long-o at New Copse today, and Dave ran round the long-o after his stint on registration. Unfortunately for the organising and planning team, it was a horrible day - heavy rain from very early on falling on what was already a pretty wet area. The photo is of one of the white controls, which was on a path track junction but looks more like a stream to me!

New Copse

I just went for a walk today as I don’t really want to post a time on a course at the moment and I don’t want to feel obliged to traverse ditches and clamber up steep slopes. That aside, things are going well. Since starting iron tablets on Monday I feel almost back to normal energy wise, which is a great relief for both me and Dave. I was a bit of a zombie last weekend and feared it might last right until the end.

The baby had a day or two of very gentle movements at the start of the week, which led me to worry a little bit, although not enough to call any medical professionals. Thankfully it seems to have returned to regular big kicking sessions so I’m happy again, even if they are often at 5am!

    Christine,
Ironically enough the only bits of the Blue course that weren’t actually under
water were several of the streams and the small ponds (which were virtually dry)
marked on the map. Personally I didn’t think the rain was too bad — after a
couple of minutes you are as wet as you are going to get and it was not that
cold when running. I am glad I didn’t have to stand around in the rain for
hours like the poor guy at the road crossing though.

    cheers,
    Neil
