Muffins

Saturday, January 27th, 2007

Spending less time exercising can have its benefits. Last Sunday I found the time to make some gorgeous muffins.* WPG2 Plugin Not Validated * They will definitely go on the (growing) list of things that I’ll make again. The recipe came from a book Dave gave me for Christmas called Apples: more than 70 inspiring recipes. It’s a nice little book with savoury as well as sweet recipes in it and was worth the money just for the muffins recipe!

Fun in the Sun

Monday, January 15th, 2007

We were at the Waggoners Wells orienteering event this Sunday, and it was a lovely sunny day although a bit nippy in the shade. I walked/jogged round W21S and finished about half way down the results, which seemed respectable. The terrain was fairly easy to get through, with no ditches and few brashings and that made things much easier. I certainly didn’t suffer from sore muscles in the same way as last week. It inspired me to have at least one more run at Hawley in a couple of weeks time. Hawley’s one of my favourite areas and I’m sure it’ll be quite runnable, even for someone who will be 5 and a half months pregnant by then!

Sore Muscles

Tuesday, January 9th, 2007

We were orienteering again at the weekend at a SOC event. I opted for the green course and walked most of the way round, just running on the flat paths and tracks. I found, as I have before, that the muscles in my lower abdomen felt strained after I’d finished. I’m confident it did the baby no harm but I’m not so sure about me.

Orienteering seems to ask quite a lot of your balance and core muscles and there were a good few ditches to navigate on the course. I suspect it’s this that causes the pulls in the muscles as jogs on the flat don’t seem to have the same effect. So, after the event this coming Sunday I might be hanging up my o-shoes for a while and just taking a walk round the paths while Dave orienteers. It’ll certainly save us some money on entry fees!

Baby is kicking nicely these days with a fairly regular baby gymnastics session just as I’m trying to get to sleep. It’s great to have some regular feedback on how things are going, rather than relying on the infrequent visits to the midwife.
