Orienteering with Someone On Board
Sunday, November 19th, 2006We took advantage of the good weather today and went to Chawton Park for a BADO colour coded event. The wood mainly consisted of beautiful mature beech trees and so it was a pleasure to run round. The edge was taken off my run by a couple of mistakes, which were in part due to a slightly aged map, but it was fun nonetheless.
I’m finding running with a baby on board is making me far more cautious than before, especially over the rough terrain. Despite having seen baby Currie for the first time on Friday (see Dave’s blog for the photo) and being reassured that everything was going well, I still can’t help but worry when I’m out running that I might be (a) trying too hard or (b) bouncing about too much. The books I’ve bought on the subject are very positive about the benefits of exercise and cite few examples of things going wrong but I still find that I’m worrying about it a lot of the time, which somewhat mars my enjoyment. In the end, I went so slowly today that I was out for 90 minutes. Maybe I’ll run a green course next week or take a picnic out with me!
