We were meant to be travelling up to the Lake District at the weekend but the JOK Chasing Sprint was cancelled because of snow in the parking field. This meant we could spend a relaxing weekend at home. The weather was lovely and sunny so we went for a couple of runs.
The run we did on Sunday was very nice. We started at the top of Shawford Down and ran down into Shawford, along the river towards the M3. This is a real olde English landscape and well worth a visit in the summer, if only to gaze at the big, expensive houses with huge gardens running down to the river. After running under the M3 and crossing the slip road, we took a sharp right up onto the top of the Downs, then down a hill before struggling up the hundreds of steps to the top of St Catherine’s Hill.
There’s an ancient maze or labrynth at the top of the hill (see here for more info), but we had no time for that. Instead, we crossed the M3 onto Twyford Down and ran through a golf course back to the river and then the car.
